The list does not end there. Almost 40% of fatalities in the workplace are alcohol related. Employees with little supervision or who are highly mobile have increased rates of alcohol use. The impact to motor trucking and CDL operators can be significant. Alcohol abuse is found to be twice as high in unmarried workers. Payroll costs associated with alcohol use can range from 1-10%. The cost to businesses for alcohol abuse is twice as much as drug use. A recent study revealed that over 20% of upper managers and over 10% of first line supervisors reported consuming alcohol during the workday compared with less than 10% of the hourly employee.
